Overview

Enak Kopitiam, nestled in Willetton, Western Australia, is a vibrant Malaysian eatery that brings the heart of authentic hawker flavors to a suburban setting. This shop on Apsley Road stands out as a go-to destination for those craving traditional Malaysian staples such as Hainanese chicken rice, prawn noodle soup, and Assam laksa, alongside a diverse noodle and rice selection that reflects the rich culinary tapestry of Malaysia.

The atmosphere is bustling yet casual, reminiscent of a classic kopitiam, where locals and visitors alike gather for a satisfying meal. Enak’s appeal lies in its ability to offer generous portions that echo the communal dining experience typical in Malaysia. The space itself is functional but often busy, signaling its popularity and consistent crowd. It caters well to families, groups, and individuals who appreciate comfort food prepared with care.

Standout dishes include the prawn noodle soup, praised for its Penang Hokkien mee-style broth—deep and flavorful with a portion size easily shared between two. The roasts here show some disparity; while the BBQ pork is serviceable, the roast pork dish received mixed reactions, with critiques focusing on texture and sauce balance, suggesting opportunities for refinement. On the other hand, noodle dishes such as the Mee Pok with roast and the savory Loh Mee earn high marks for authentic flavors and well-executed wok hei.

Enak Kopitiam also shines in its variety of specials like crispy, golden Loh Bak and the herbal old chicken rice, highlighting traditional recipes that bring warmth and familiarity. These items, paired with classic Malaysian beverages like iced kopi, complete the dining experience with a genuine hawker touch.

Service appears to be a mixed bag; during peak times, wait times can stretch, and minor service hiccups—such as delayed utensil replenishment and an unconventional serving order—have been noted. For those new to Malaysian cuisine or kopitiam culture, patience is rewarded through authentic culinary journeys. Regular patrons appreciate the consistency of flavors, even if the tempo during busy service hours can disrupt flow.

In summary, Enak Kopitiam is a worthwhile culinary stop for Malaysian food lovers in the Perth metropolitan area. It offers a fairly wide menu that allows guests to explore iconic dishes from various regions of Malaysia. While improvements in service speed and certain dishes like roast pork could elevate the experience, the overall value, authenticity, and generous portions make it a reputable establishment in this niche. Whether you seek hearty noodle bowls, fragrant rice dishes, or flavorful street-style snacks, Enak provides a satisfying taste of Malaysia’s rich hawker heritage in an accessible local setting.

being in my area i’ve been here many times but i’ve only recorded a few of them so here we go. all portion sizes were pretty good for the price if you’re after that horfun in egg sauce: strong wok hei, but it would be more fitting to call it “egg sauce on horfun.” the stuff it comes with is fitting sweet n sour pork rice: no pineapples i happy salt n pepper fish rice: lives up to its name, is very salty so go nuts if you’re into that. it’s a little dry though overall bbq pork rice: ehhh this was fine. nothing stunning. a lot of rice. roast pork rice…: this is why i’m writing this now. the pork skin is SO HARD IT’S HARDER than MINECRAFT OBSIDIAN also the pork itself was on the cold side tempwise also also the sauce was not very plenty or flavorful i was so let down by this, the soup couldn’t even save it at this point if you want roast pork i strongly suggest you go elsewhere but everything else here i’ve had no problems with. except maybe the “pan mee” their version is a little unconventional and i don’t really dig it.

The establishment experienced high traffic, leading to extended wait times, particularly for larger parties. We noted several service deficiencies, including an empty tissue box at the counter that was not replenished upon request, and a recurring shortage of spoons, requiring multiple requests for their provision. Additionally, cups for filtered water were unavailable at times. Regarding the cuisine, quality varied; however, today's braised pork belly with rice was good, a notable improvement from a previous instance where the dish contained unrendered skin. The tauhu goreng consistently meets expectations. Pricing is considered reasonable.

Amazing authentic Malaysian hawker food. Had the roast pork with noodles (dry) with ice kopi. Pork was deliciously succulent and perfectly cooked. Very popular spot, so make sure you get there before 12pm. Highly recommend!

Busy and bustling anytime of the day. Food quality is above average, however, it is extremely slow in getting the food out. The kopitiam is not too busy, but the way they serve the food is weird. When you ordered the breakfast set, you will be served the kaya toast, then 20 mins later, you are served your drink and the eggs. The wait time is a little outrageous. I ordered loh mee, this is served within 10 mins. Taste is great. I also ordered fried kuay teow and roast pork noodle for takeaway.

Easily In the Top 5 Malaysian ???????? restaurants in Perth in my books. When there is a line outside of a place don’t matter which country you in that is a sign the food is good This place has that even though it’s quite large inside. Luckily the turnover of customers is fast. Majority of the food we ordered was tasty. The drinks took a long time to come out but at least the food came out quite quickly. The shallow pan fried noodle with egg sauce is my go to dish here!!

Forget going overseas and support local. They have the best hawker food in Perth. Seriously always hits the spot and always huge portion sizes. The prices are so reasonable and they are always busy. We always end up taking the left offers home and ordering take away for dinner!
